Mayflower Craft

Published by homesheart at 3:03 am under american history Edit This

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and with it comes Thanksgiving crafts.  When choosing Thanksgiving crafts for the homeschooled child, it’s important to make sure that each craft has a valuable lesson.  Here is a little project that you can make with younger children.
Using two clear plastic cups, draw a picture of the Mayflower on the outside of one cup. It’s best to use permanent magic marker, as other markers will bead up and come off.  If you’ve ever tried to use washable markers for craft projects you’ve probably realized that you and your children end up wearing more of the markers than the project.

Draw an ocean scene around the base of the second cup.  You can include a sun and birds on the top part of the cup if you like.  Place the first cup inside the second and you can create the illusion that the Mayflower is sailing the ocean shores by spinning the cup inside the other.

This project is a great for story telling and can be used with other images beside the Mayflower.
